Cavalier Milestones

1865

The Tennessee Furniture Company is founded in Chattanooga, Tennessee as an extension of a sawmill to create furniture from the wood used the sawmill.

1905

The Tennessee Furniture Company acquires the Odorless Refrigeration Company, makers of ice cooled devices.

1923

The Tennessee Furniture Company builds ice coolers using the brand name Cavalier under a division called the Cavalier Division of the Tennessee Furniture Company.

1935

The Cavalier Division of the Tennessee Furniture Company partners with the Coca-Cola Company to begin building coolers using the brand name Cavalier.

1938

The Tennessee Furniture Company officially changes their name to the Cavalier Corporation.

1963

In December of 1963, the Seeburg Corporation acquires the Cavalier Corporation with Cavalier becoming a division of Seeburg.

1987

After a series of restructuring following the Seeburg Corporation acquisition, Cavalier files for bankruptcy. Following bankruptcy, Cavalier emerges as an employee-owned entity.

2000

In August of 2000, Cavalier closes their final plant in Chattanooga Tennessee then ceases production and the company closes.
